Week 1:
Objective: Students will begin to learn about women who contributed to women's sufferage and then present day by reading the journal entries.
Materials: Internet, journals, paper,
Time: 5 days
Description:
The students will visit different web sites to research information about women
of the past and present.
You are a journalist preparing articles for a newspaper. You will answer the
questions provide in the packet, in their journals, while researching, the woman/subject
of their choice. (list of people/topics)
Introduction: You have just been hired to help create articles for a newspaper regarding women in history and the roles they have played.

Week 2:
Objective: Students will demonstrate the ability to create newspaper articles based on the research found.
Materials: Pencil, paper, and computer.
Time: 5 days
Description: You will construct a four to five paragraph article, in pairs of two, based on the research you found. You will use the questions that were provided to write the article. Thenyou will type the finished product on the computer.
In Art class:
You have just started writing your article for the newspaper. As you write this article, think about what picture you would like to create that will help the readers understand the article better. Based on the infomation provided, create a picture that will go best with the article. Use any material for this assignment. (Be in mind the images will be scanned or photgraphed to the computer)
A picture/photograph visually reflects a certain event or subject in newspaper articles and to catch the reader's attention to read the article.

Week
3: Students will put together the newspapers
Objective: Upon completion of acticle students will organize and piece together the newspaper, combining articles and drawings.
Materials: Computer, Scanner, and digital camera
Time: 5 days
In Art class:
At this point, the articles and pictures are complete. Durring art class, the
class will use the computer to develop a layout for the newspaper. The pictures
will either be scanned into the computer for the newspaper or photographed by
a digital camera. (Use week 2's links to look at the layouts of a newspaper)

Week
4: Students will present newspaper
Objective: Students
will present newspaper to fellow forth graders, parents, and faculty. They will
give a overview of the article and feelings toward what they found out.
